Today’s Catholic Reflection

In the first reading from 1 Corinthians, Paul shares his mission. He focuses on preaching the Gospel instead of baptizing. He notes that the message of the cross may seem foolish to some. However, it holds the power of God for those who believe. Paul explains that God has shown worldly wisdom to be foolish, and true understanding comes through faith in Christ. To some, Christ may be a stumbling block, but He is also the embodiment of God's power and wisdom.

The Gospel from Matthew tells a parable about ten virgins waiting for a bridegroom. Five are wise and bring extra oil for their lamps, while the other five are not prepared. When the bridegroom arrives, only those who are ready join the wedding feast. The others are left outside. This parable highlights the importance of being vigilant and prepared, as we do not know when the bridegroom will come.
