Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Ezekiel's vision, the Lord takes him to a valley filled with dry bones. He asks Ezekiel if these bones can come to life. Ezekiel replies that only God knows. Then, God tells him to prophesy to the bones. As he speaks, the bones come together and form bodies, but they lack spirit. God instructs Ezekiel to prophesy to the spirit, which fills the bodies and brings them to life as a vast army. This vision shows God's promise to restore Israel and bring His people back to their land.
In the responsorial psalm, we see gratitude for God's enduring love and mercy. It tells of the redeemed who are rescued from distress and led to safety. The psalm encourages us to give thanks for God's wondrous deeds. In the Gospel, Jesus answers a Pharisee's question greatest commandment. He teaches that loving God with all one's heart, soul, and mind is the most important commandment. This is closely followed by loving one's neighbor as oneself. Together, these two commandments capture the essence of the law and the prophets.
