Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Ezekiel 34:1-11, the Lord speaks to the leaders of Israel. He calls them shepherds who have failed to care for their people. Instead of nurturing and protecting, they have taken advantage of them. This has led to the scattering and suffering of the sheep. The Lord promises to take action against these unfaithful shepherds and vows to care for His flock personally.

Psalm 23 reflects trust in the Lord as a caring shepherd. The psalmist describes being led to peaceful places and finding comfort in difficult times. There is a deep assurance of God's goodness and kindness. The psalmist looks forward to dwelling in the Lord's presence forever. In Matthew 20:1-16, Jesus tells a parable about a landowner who hires workers at different times but pays them all the same. This causes discontent among the early workers, but the landowner reminds them of their agreement and shows his right to be generous. This illustrates how God's grace operates beyond human expectations.
