During the reign of King Zedekiah in Judah, the prophet Hananiah made a bold claim. He said God would break Babylon's power and restore the temple vessels and exiles in just two years. Jeremiah responded with caution, noting that true prophets are known by their fulfilled predictions. Hananiah then broke a wooden yoke from Jeremiah's neck, asserting that God would free the nations from Babylon. Later, God told Jeremiah to inform Hananiah that by breaking the yoke, he had only created a stronger one and warned that Hananiah would die that year for spreading false hope.
In the Gospel, Jesus sent his disciples ahead in a boat while he went to pray alone. A storm arose, and the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water, which frightened them. They thought he was a ghost, but Jesus reassured them. Peter stepped out to walk toward him but began to sink when doubt crept in. Jesus saved Peter, and once they were back in the boat, the wind calmed. The disciples recognized Jesus as the Son of God, and many brought their sick to him for healing when they reached Gennesaret.
