Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Amos 9:11-15, the Lord shares His promise to restore the fallen house of David. He will rebuild its ruins, allowing His people to reclaim their land and find prosperity. There will be a time of abundance, where the harvest is so great that the plowman keeps pace with the reaper. The people of Israel will rebuild their cities and plant vineyards, enjoying the fruits of their labor. God assures them they will never be uprooted from the land He has given.
In Matthew 9:14-17, John's disciples ask why Jesus' followers do not fast like they do. Jesus responds by saying that while He is with them, it is a time for celebration, much like a wedding feast. He compares old and new garments and wineskins to illustrate that His message brings a new way of life. This new wine requires fresh receptacles to be fully embraced and preserved.
