Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the reading from Amos, the Lord encourages the people to seek goodness and turn away from evil. He expresses disappointment in their feasts and offerings. Rituals without justice and righteousness hold no meaning for Him. The Lord wants justice to flow freely, showing that true worship must be rooted in a commitment to goodness.
The Psalm reminds us that God does not need sacrifices. Everything belongs to Him. He calls His people to reflect on their faith. Outward expressions mean little if they ignore His teachings. In the Gospel, Jesus meets two possessed men who recognize Him as the Son of God. The demons plead to be sent into a herd of swine, and Jesus allows this, leading to their destruction in the sea. The townspeople see this miracle and react with fear, asking Jesus to leave their region.
