Today’s Catholic Reflection
Elisha visits Shunem and meets a woman who recognizes him as a holy man. She persuades her husband to build a small room for him, offering a place to stay during his visits. Elisha later learns that the woman has no son. Through his servant Gehazi, he promises her that she will have a son within a year. This promise shows her deep faith and generosity.
In the Gospel, Jesus speaks to his apostles cost of following him. He tells them that loving family more than him makes one unworthy of being his disciple. He stresses the importance of welcoming those who come in his name. Even a small act of kindness, like giving a cup of water to a disciple, will be rewarded. This teaching highlights the importance of commitment to faith and service to others.
