Today’s Catholic Reflection
The Israelites camped at the foot of Mount Sinai. Moses went up the mountain to speak with God. The Lord told Moses to remind the people of their freedom from Egypt. He called them to be His special possession and a holy nation, as long as they listened and kept His covenant. This moment changed the relationship between God and the Israelites, showing their special place among all nations.
In the New Testament, Jesus saw the crowds and felt compassion for them. He understood they needed guidance. He told his disciples to pray for more workers to help with the plentiful harvest. Jesus gave the twelve apostles the authority to heal and share the message of God's kingdom. He directed them to focus on the lost sheep of Israel and to share the gifts they had received.
