Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the first reading from 1 Peter, we see the prophets of the Old Testament searching for understanding. They knew their words were meant for future believers. This passage invites us to prepare our minds and to live with hope. It encourages us to focus on the grace revealed through Jesus. A life of holiness is called for, reflecting God's holiness in all we do.
In the Gospel from Mark, Peter speaks with Jesus sacrifices made in following Him. Jesus reassures Peter that those who give up their possessions and relationships for His sake will receive much more. This includes both earthly blessings and eternal life. Jesus shares a profound truth about worldly status, where the first may become last. This teaching highlights the importance of commitment to our faith and the rewards it brings.
