Today’s Catholic Reflection
King Agrippa and Bernice came to visit Festus in Caesarea. Festus shared the situation regarding Paul with them. He explained that Felix had left Paul in custody and that the Jewish leaders had accused him of crimes. These accusations were centered on religious issues and a man named Jesus, whom Paul claimed was alive. Festus was uncertain about what to do next. He suggested sending Paul to Jerusalem for trial, but Paul requested to be tried by Caesar. As a result, Festus decided to keep Paul in custody until he could send him to the Emperor.
In the Gospel, Jesus spoke with Simon Peter after they shared a meal. He asked Peter three times if he loved Him. Each time, Peter affirmed his love, and Jesus told him to care for His followers. He instructed Peter to feed and tend His sheep. Jesus then indicated that Peter would face difficulties ahead, foreshadowing his eventual martyrdom. He invited Peter to follow Him, highlighting the commitment and sacrifice involved in being His disciple.
