Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Acts, Paul speaks to the presbyters of the Church in Ephesus. He urges them to stay watchful over themselves and the community they serve. He warns that false teachers will come after he leaves, trying to lead the faithful astray. Paul recalls his three years of dedication to them, stressing the value of hard work and helping the weak. His farewell is filled with emotion, as the presbyters realize they will not see him again.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus prays to the Father for His disciples. He asks for their protection, acknowledging that they do not belong to the world, just as He does not. Jesus declares that His word is truth and that He consecrates Himself for their sake. He wishes for them to share in His joy and to be united, just as He and the Father are united. This prayer reflects the deep connection between Jesus, His followers, and the mission they are meant to fulfill.
