Today’s Catholic Reflection
Paul went to Ephesus and met some disciples who had only received John's baptism. When he asked them Holy Spirit, they did not know what he meant. Paul shared that John's baptism was about repentance and pointed them to Jesus. After hearing this, the disciples were baptized in Jesus' name. Paul laid his hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them, allowing them to speak in tongues and prophesy. Paul then spent three months teaching in the synagogue Kingdom of God.
In the Gospel, the disciples recognized their understanding of Jesus' teachings and their belief in Him. Jesus warned them that they would soon be scattered and would leave Him alone. He reassured them that the Father would be with Him. He spoke of the challenges they would face in the world but encouraged them to take heart, saying He had overcome the world. This brought them a sense of peace despite the trials ahead.
