Today’s Catholic Reflection
Philip went to Samaria and shared the message of Christ. His words and miraculous signs drew the attention of many. People who were suffering found healing, and joy filled the city. When the apostles in Jerusalem heard, they sent Peter and John to pray for the new believers. The apostles laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
In his letter, Peter encouraged believers to honor Christ in their hearts. He urged them to be ready to explain their hope with kindness and respect. Suffering for doing good is better than suffering for wrongdoing, he said, as Christ suffered for all to bring them to God. In the Gospel, Jesus told his disciples that love for him is shown through obedience. He promised to send the Holy Spirit, assuring them that those who love him will feel the presence of the Father.
