Today’s Catholic Reflection

Paul traveled to Derbe and Lystra, where he met Timothy. Timothy was a disciple, the son of a Jewish mother and a Greek father. The local believers spoke highly of him, and Paul chose to take him on his missionary journey. To avoid offending the Jews, Paul had Timothy circumcised. As they traveled, they shared the decisions made by the Apostles in Jerusalem. This led to the growth of the churches in both faith and number. Although they tried to preach in Asia and Bithynia, the Holy Spirit guided them to Troas, where Paul had a vision of a Macedonian man asking for help.

In the Gospel, Jesus warned his disciples world's rejection. He told them that being associated with him would lead to persecution, just as he faced hatred. Jesus reminded them that a servant is not greater than their master. Their faithfulness to his teachings would bring challenges. This passage speaks to the cost of discipleship and the need to remain steadfast in faith despite opposition.
