Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Acts 15:1-6, some people from Judea argued that circumcision was essential for salvation. This led to a lively discussion, especially between Paul, Barnabas, and those who held this view. To find clarity, the Church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem. They traveled and shared the joyful news of the Gentiles coming to faith. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were welcomed and shared their experiences, but some Pharisees who believed still insisted on the need for circumcision and following the law.

In John 15:1-8, Jesus speaks to His disciples about their bond with Him. He identifies Himself as the true vine and God as the vine grower. He explains that branches that do not bear fruit will be cut off, while fruitful branches will be pruned for greater yield. Jesus highlights the necessity of staying connected to Him, saying that without Him, nothing can be accomplished. He reassures His followers that if they remain in Him and keep His teachings, their prayers will be answered, bringing glory to God as they bear much fruit and show their commitment.
