Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Acts 6:1-7, the number of disciples was growing. This led to concerns from the Hellenists. They felt their widows were not receiving enough food. The Twelve Apostles responded by gathering everyone. They suggested choosing seven trustworthy men to oversee the distribution, allowing them to focus on prayer and preaching. The community agreed and selected seven men, including Stephen and Philip. The Apostles prayed over them and laid hands on them. This decision helped the word of God spread and led to many more disciples, including priests.

In John 6:16-21, the disciples went out in a boat on the sea toward Capernaum after dark. Jesus stayed behind. A strong wind made their journey difficult. As they struggled to row, they saw Jesus walking on the water toward them and were frightened. He spoke to them, saying, “It is I. Do not be afraid.” When they welcomed him into the boat, they immediately reached the shore they were aiming for.
