Today’s Catholic Reflection
The Apostles faced the Sanhedrin after they continued to share the message of Jesus. The high priest accused them of trying to shift blame for Jesus' death onto the council. Peter and the others responded by stating their commitment to following God rather than human authority. They affirmed that God had raised Jesus and offered forgiveness to Israel. This testimony angered the council, and they began to think about punishing the Apostles.
The psalm speaks of God's care for those in need. It shows how close God is to the brokenhearted. He is there to help them in their troubles. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks with authority. Believing in him leads to eternal life, while turning away from him brings separation from that life and God's wrath.
