Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Acts 4:1-12, Peter and John faced opposition after healing a crippled man. The temple authorities, including the priests and Sadducees, were troubled by their teachings about Jesus and the resurrection. They arrested Peter and John and held them overnight. Despite this, many who heard their message believed, and the number of followers grew to about five thousand. The next day, the leaders questioned them healing. Filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter proclaimed that the healing was done in the name of Jesus Christ, whom they had crucified. He affirmed that Jesus is the cornerstone of salvation for all.
In the Gospel of John 21:1-14, Jesus appeared to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. After a night of failed fishing, Jesus told them to cast their nets on the right side of the boat. They caught 153 large fish. Recognizing him, Peter jumped into the sea to reach Jesus. On the shore, they found that Jesus had prepared a meal of fish and bread. This was the third time Jesus revealed himself to the disciples after his resurrection, deepening their understanding of him as the risen Lord.
