Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Isaiah 49:1-6, the speaker shares a message from the LORD. He was called from birth and appointed as a servant. He speaks of being shaped for a purpose and hidden away. Even when he feels his efforts are in vain, he understands that his reward comes from God. The LORD reassures him that his mission is for all nations, promising to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.
In the Gospel of John 13:21-38, Jesus shares a meal with his disciples. He reveals that one of them will betray him, which confuses them. He identifies Judas by giving him a piece of bread. After Judas leaves, Jesus speaks of his glorification and tells his disciples he will soon depart. Peter expresses his willingness to follow and lay down his life. Jesus, however, foretells that Peter will deny knowing him three times before the rooster crows.
