Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Isaiah, the Lord speaks of a new beginning. He promises to create new heavens and a new earth. The past will fade away, giving way to joy in Jerusalem and among its people. There will be no more weeping or sorrow. Life will be full, and even those who live to a hundred will be seen as young. People will enjoy the fruits of their labor and thrive in the homes they build.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus visits Galilee. The people there welcome him, having seen his miracles in Jerusalem. A royal official approaches him, asking for healing for his dying son in Capernaum. Jesus assures him that his son will live. The official believes and, on his way home, discovers that his son recovered at the very moment Jesus spoke. This miracle leads him and his household to faith in Jesus as the Messiah.
