Today’s Catholic Reflection

Naaman was a respected commander in the Aramean army. He struggled with leprosy, a painful and isolating condition. A young Israelite girl, taken captive during a raid, suggested he seek healing from the prophet Elisha in Israel. Naaman went to the king of Israel with a letter asking for help, but the king felt troubled and worried it was a trap. Hearing this, Elisha invited Naaman to come to him directly.

When Naaman arrived, Elisha told him to wash in the Jordan River seven times. At first, Naaman was angry and wanted something more impressive. His servants encouraged him to follow Elisha's simple instruction. When he did, he was healed. Overwhelmed, Naaman declared that there was no other God but the one in Israel.
