Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Exodus, the Israelites found themselves in the desert, struggling with thirst. They complained to Moses about leaving Egypt. Concerned for his safety, Moses turned to the Lord for guidance. God told him to strike a rock at Horeb with his staff. Water flowed from the rock, and the place was named Massah and Meribah, reflecting the people's doubts and their testing of God's presence.
In the Gospel, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. He asks her for a drink, which leads to a conversation about living water that offers eternal life. Jesus speaks to her, revealing his knowledge of her life and identifying himself as the Messiah. Many Samaritans came to believe in him after hearing his words. They recognized him as the Savior of the world and invited him to stay, deepening their faith.
