Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the passage from Jeremiah, the people of Judah and Jerusalem plot against him. They want to silence his voice. They think that without his words, they will not lose guidance from their leaders. Jeremiah turns to God in anguish. He questions why he should face harm after doing good and reminds God of his past prayers for the people.
The psalmist cries out for help, seeking safety in God amid danger. He feels the fear around him but chooses to trust in the Lord. He places his spirit in God's hands. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of his coming suffering and death. A mother asks for special places for her sons. Jesus shares that true greatness lies in serving others, showing that he came to serve and give his life for many.
