Today’s Catholic Reflection
Queen Esther is in deep distress. She turns to God for help. With her handmaids, she prostrates herself and prays earnestly for deliverance. Esther remembers how faithful God is to those who please Him. She asks for words that will persuade her enemy, expressing her vulnerability as an orphan and longing for her sorrow to turn into joy.
The Responsorial Psalm shows gratitude for God's response to prayers. The psalmist praises God for His kindness and truth. He strengthens those who call upon Him. In the Gospel, Jesus encourages His disciples to ask, seek, and knock. He assures them that God will respond generously, just like earthly parents who give good gifts to their children. Jesus concludes by reminding us to treat others as we wish to be treated, capturing the essence of the law and the prophets.
