Today’s Catholic Reflection
As King David neared the end of his life, he shared important advice with his son Solomon. He encouraged Solomon to be strong and to follow God's commandments as given in the law of Moses. David promised that if Solomon remained faithful, his family would continue to lead Israel. After David passed away, Solomon became king and took his place in the kingdom.
In the Gospel, Jesus sent out the Twelve Apostles in pairs. He gave them the authority to cast out demons and heal the sick. They were to travel light, carrying only a walking stick and wearing sandals. When they entered a house, they were to stay there and leave any place that did not welcome them by shaking off the dust from their feet. The Apostles preached repentance and performed many healings, sharing Jesus' message and showing His power.
