Today’s Catholic Reflection
Saul went after David with a large group of men. They entered a cave where David and his followers were hiding. David's men urged him to kill Saul, believing it was a chance from God. Instead, David cut off a piece of Saul's cloak. He felt remorse for even thinking of harming Saul, the Lord's anointed. He restrained his men and let Saul leave unharmed.
After Saul left the cave, David called out to him. He explained that he meant no harm and had spared his life. David held up the piece of Saul's cloak to show his mercy. Saul was moved by David's actions. He acknowledged his wrongdoing and recognized David's righteousness. Saul expressed gratitude for David's generosity and realized that David would one day become king.
