Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Isaiah, the LORD names Israel as His servant. Israel is chosen to show His glory. Their mission is to bring back Jacob and gather the survivors of Israel. Israel's purpose goes further. They will be a light to the nations, sharing God's salvation with everyone.
The psalmist shows a desire to follow God's will. Obedience is more important than sacrifices. The speaker knows God has listened to their cries and has given them a new song to sing. In the New Testament, Paul writes to the church in Corinth. He reminds them of their sanctification in Christ and wishes them grace and peace. John the Baptist sees Jesus as the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, and he testifies to His identity as the Son of God, marked by the Spirit descending upon Him.
