Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Isaiah 41:13-20, the Lord speaks to Israel, calling them Jacob and Israel. He offers them comfort and support. He promises to help them, turning their weaknesses into strength. The Lord will provide for those in need, making barren lands thrive with water and trees. This transformation shows the creativity and power of the Holy One of Israel.

In Matthew 11:11-15, Jesus praises John the Baptist, calling him the greatest among those born of women. He also notes that the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than John. Jesus points out the struggles involved in reaching the Kingdom, where violence often meets resistance. He invites those who understand to see John as the prophetic figure, Elijah, who was foretold to come.
