Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Romans 15:14-21, the author shows confidence in the community's goodness and knowledge. He encourages them to support one another. He acknowledges his role as a minister to the Gentiles and speaks of the grace he has received from God. His mission is to present the Gentiles as an acceptable offering to God, through the power of Christ and the Holy Spirit. He seeks to spread the Gospel in places where Christ is not known.
In Luke 16:1-8, Jesus shares a story about a steward who misuses his master's resources and faces being let go. Understanding his situation, the steward comes up with a plan to secure his future by reducing the debts of his master's clients. When the master finds out, he surprisingly praises the steward for his cleverness. Jesus notes that those who are worldly often act with more wisdom in their dealings than those who are spiritually enlightened.
